Join the Private 2-day Machu Picchu hike and Huayna Picchu Mountain. This hike takes you through the beautiful Andean mountains, lush vegetation, and diverse ecosystems. On the first day, you’ll walk the One Day Inca Trail, following the path of the Incas until you reach the Sun Gate. Here, you will catch your first glimpse of the amazing Machu Picchu.
After spending the night in Aguas Calientes, you’ll return to Machu Picchu on Day 2. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of this incredible archaeological site before hiking Huayna Picchu Mountain. In the evening, you will head back to Cusco by train and bus.
IMPORTANT: Please remember to book your short Inca Trail permits and Huayna Picchu Mountain permits well in advance, ideally months before your trip. Only 250 permits are available per day for the One Day Inca Trail, and only 200 permits are available per day for the Huayna Picchu hike. Once they sell out, no more permits will be issued, as the Peruvian government tightly controls these to protect the trails from erosion.

Today Our trek takes us along the most impressive stretch of Machu Picchu 2 day Hike. We’ll visit beautiful Inca sites, see a variety of flora and fauna and get to take in the fantastic panoramas of the Andes Mountains. Covering 11km of the Short Inca Trail journey begins in the Sacred Valley and works its way up along an original Inca Trail to the Inca site of Wiñay Wayna before continuing on to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
After a full day trekking, we’ll arrive to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) in the late afternoon and get our first views of Machu Picchu spread out on the mountain below. The light at this time of day is great for photos and with fewer tourists in the site it’s a perfect time to take some pictures. After we’ve passed through the Sun Gate we’ll carry on along the trail a little way before taking a side trail that leads us to Aguas Calientes in the valley below where we’ll check in to our hotel.
Today is the most important day – we will wake up early to catch the bus from aguas calientes town to Machu Picchu inca site where you will experience the purp0se Machu picchu. You will enjoy a two hour tour from a local guide around this astonishing archaeological site and then, enjoy the hike to the top of Huayna Picchu mountain, the iconic mountain peak that overlooks the site of Andean Machu Picchu . After we will return to Machu Picchu Town by bus from where we catch our train to Ollantaytambo and then onwards by private bus back to Cusco.

Your experience comprises all the essentials needed for a worry-free experience: a personal English-speaking guide, hotel pickup in Aguas Calientes, and private transportation. In addition, you’ll receive round-trip tickets for the Expedition train, the Machu Picchu entrance fee, a booked stay in a 3-star hotel in Aguas Calientes for one night, coupled with bus tickets to and from Machu Picchu, and meals accounting for 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, and 1 dinner. We also ensure safety on the trail with an oxygen tank and a first aid kit.
The base package does not include of Huayna Picchu Mountain permit. To access the iconic peak, you must request the permit in advance and pay a fee of $75 USD per person. Due to limited spots, it is recommended to book them early.
Trekking poles are not given for the hike, but can be rented from us for $5 USD per pair. In particular, the Inca Trail is full of steep and uneven terrain, and trekking poles tend to be very useful for climbing.
While not mandatory, travel insurance is highly recommended. Andean Path Travel advises all travelers to obtain comprehensive coverage that includes trip cancellation, interruption, baggage loss, emergency medical evacuation, and medical expenses. Travel insurance offers peace of mind in case of unexpected changes or emergencies during your journey.
Yes, on the first morning, breakfast is not included, so we suggest eating before pickup or bringing snacks. Also, make sure to bring your original passport (required for trail entry), comfortable hiking clothes, sun protection, insect repellent, and your travel insurance details. A detailed packing list will be sent in your pre-departure package.
Our Private 2 day Machu Picchu hike costs $535 for one person and $500 per person for a group of four or more.
